Our story began in 2008 at the La Quinta Inn Conference Room in Louisville, Colorado with a vision of offering quality education while transforming the inner lives of professionals so that they can help children transform. We soon realized that the need was much greater than we had anticipated. As the phone rang and classes filled, we chose to adapt. Why? Because relationship, community, and helping people discover themselves are what drives what we do. The part of our story that fills my heart is our continued commitment to creating services where services are requested. My team knows that as long as someone somewhere finds value in what we offer, we will keep going. Our growth has been organic as we have responded to the direct requests of our students, much like an attuned dance between two people. We listen, we feel, we adapt, we respond, and we do it all while maintaining a core sense of who we are. Just as we outgrew the La Quinta Inn, we also outgrew our name. Now that Synergetic Play Therapy® has a global reach with the phone still ringing, it makes sense that becoming the Synergetic Play Therapy Institute™ is the next adaptation of our story. From my heart to yours, thank you. Lisa Dion Learn more WELCOME TO THE SYNERGETIC PLAY THERAPY INSTITUTE™ THE PLAY THERAPY INSTITUTE OF COLORADO HAS EVOLVED! This makes play therapy a challenge: how do you heal those maneuvering the middle ground between childhood and adulthood? This video course explores when to apply directive and non-directive play, how to work with older children, how to set goals for this population, and how to turn the awkward into the authentic. learn more Managing Aggression in the Playroom Using Synergetic Play Therapy Although aggression is a common part of the play therapy process, many therapists don’t have a clear understanding of what to do and how to facilitate the intensity when it enters the playroom during play. The result can lead to inadvertently promoting aggression and increasing low brain disorganization. learn more Partnering with Parents in Play Therapy In order to heal children, we must get through to parents – they’re the ones who set the appointments and initiate therapy. From explanation and engagement to celebrating small victories, play therapists who strengthen their work with parents also strengthen their practice. This course helps you understand how to get and retain more clients, how to grow more authentic with parents, and what you can do to explain the healing process as thoroughly as possible. learn more To see all of our online learning opportunities and courses, please click here.
